How is it made?
Preparing the clay
Selected clay is rested, kneaded and cleared of air. This step is never rushed, for a strong and smooth surface.
Shaping
The mug and candle holder are shaped by hand one by one. The patterned windows that let the light through are carved by hand.
Drying and first firing
The pieces dry slowly for days, then go into the kiln for their first firing, becoming strong and ready to paint.
Hand painting
Flowers, leaves and animal figures are painted by hand with fine brushes, so no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
Glazing and second firing
A clear glaze is applied and the piece is fired again at high temperature, giving a glossy, food-safe surface that lasts.
Checking and packing
Every piece is checked one by one, carefully packed against breakage and shipped.
